We believe that when educators are supported, students thrive. TEA exists to ensure that every teacher, counselor, librarian, and certificated staff member in the Tustin Unified School District has the representation, resources, and respect they deserve.
TEA's Core Goals
Collective Bargaining
Negotiate fair wages, benefits, and working conditions on behalf of all TUSD certificated employees through the collective bargaining process.
Member Protection
Provide legal representation, counseling, and advocacy for members facing workplace challenges, discipline, or unfair treatment.
Professional Growth
Support educators through professional development opportunities, scholarships, and access to statewide and national resources via CTA and NEA.
Quality Public Education
Champion policies that improve student learning conditions, protect class sizes, and ensure all children in Tustin Unified receive an excellent education.
A History of Advocacy
The Tustin Educators Association was established in the 1960s as part of the broader movement for educators' rights across California. From its founding, TEA has been at the forefront of advocating for fair compensation, safe working environments, and policies that put students first.
Over the decades, TEA has successfully negotiated improved salary schedules, expanded health benefits, stronger class-size protections, and due-process rights for certificated staff in the Tustin Unified School District. Each contract cycle represents TEA members speaking with one collective voice.
Today, TEA represents more than 1,000 members across TUSD — from classroom teachers and school counselors to librarians and nurses. We stand at the intersection of labor rights and educational excellence, because we believe the two are inseparable.
