Our Story

A History of Advocacy

The Tustin Educators Association was established in the 1960s as part of the broader movement for educators' rights across California. From its founding, TEA has been at the forefront of advocating for fair compensation, safe working environments, and policies that put students first.

Over the decades, TEA has successfully negotiated improved salary schedules, expanded health benefits, stronger class-size protections, and due-process rights for certificated staff in the Tustin Unified School District. Each contract cycle represents TEA members speaking with one collective voice.

Today, TEA represents more than 1,000 members across TUSD β€” from classroom teachers and school counselors to librarians and nurses. We stand at the intersection of labor rights and educational excellence, because we believe the two are inseparable.
